LVT Flooring Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain :- Advantages and Disadvantages of LVT Flooring

For all practical purposes, it would be impossible to classify LVT Flooring as anything other than hardwood. The wood is virtually impervious to any form of moisture, weathering or wearing, except for the occasional clean up. Because LVT is water, stain and scuff resistant, it is built with ease-of-use in mind. With a wide variety of stains, finishes and colors available, you're sure to find the right look to fit your home. Here, we'll take a closer look at what is LVT Flooring, how it's constructed, and what options are available for those who prefer different styles and types of flooring.

Two parallel strips of wood (or sometimes carpeting) covered in vinyl

A simple description of what is LVT Flooring would be two parallel strips of wood (or sometimes carpeting) covered in vinyl. There are four layers in the most popular LVT Flooring system. The outermost layer is a clear vinyl layer, which protects the subfloor from stains, while providing a protective barrier against oil, water, and other contaminants. A clear membrane is not visible once the floors are stained or dented, and the innermost layer is made of a slightly darker material, usually vinyl, that traps the dirt and dust during and after application.

With a typical installation, you should be able to install the lvt flooring over just about any type of subfloor. Most experts recommend installing it over concrete, although some have been installing it over linoleum. An advantage of using LVT Flooring over tile floors is that the product is easily installed over an area with a low slope, such as a basement. In other words, if you're looking for a more uniformed look throughout your home, you should consider using lvt flooring over traditional hardwood. And if you have existing flooring that's stained or damaged, you can simply replace it with one of the numerous lvt flooring products available today.

Easier to maintain and clean

The biggest complaint that most people have about lvt flooring, is that it's not very easy to clean. When it comes to tile floors, cleaning is a fairly simple matter of sweeping or vacuum-cleaning the surface each day. With LVT Flooring, you have to take it a step further, using an absorbent mat or sponge and special tools to "scrub" off the dirt or grease. This can be a nuisance, but many people find it's worth the extra trouble to have a floor that's easier to maintain and clean.

Available in a wide variety of styles

Another major advantage of using lvt flooring over traditional hardwood or tile floors is that they're available in a wide variety of styles. There's something for every home, from country-style barnyards to contemporary flat blocks, and even areas set aside for outdoor playtime (like the back yard). Even if you decide against using LVT Flooring in your main living room, it's certainly possible to add some luxury vinyl flooring to any room by choosing a different style and adding a thick or heavy overlay board to cover the lower surface.

The final disadvantage to lvt flooring is that it does require a bit more maintenance than its competitors. Because of its material (lots of pressure is applied to make it durable), it's important that you use a sealer to protect the tiles from water damage and daily wear and tear. Also, if you want to install a heavier grade of vinyl flooring, like the thicker "umbo" variety, you may have to sand down the original natural stone or wooden floors to prepare them for the thicker stock.
